Abstract
Antibiyotiklerin hatalı ve aşırı kullanımı, küresel sağlığı tehdit eden en önemli sorunlardan biri olan antibiyotik direncinin gelişimine neden olmaktadır. Antibiyotik direnci; tedavi başarısının azalmasına, daha yüksek doz ve daha uzun süreli antibiyotik kullanımına gereksinim duyulmasına ve bazı enfeksiyonların tedavisinde etkili ilaç seçeneklerinin kaybedilmesine yol açabilmektedir. Çocuk diş hekimliğinde antibiyotiklerin doğru endikasyonda, uygun doz ve tedavi süresiyle reçete edilmemesi; tedavi etkinliğini azaltmakta, tedavinin uzamasına ve gereksiz antibiyotik kullanımıyla ilişkili komplikasyonlara neden olabilmektedir. Bu derleme, çocuk diş hekimliğinde antibiyotik kullanımının endikasyonlarını, kontrendikasyonlarını, profilaksi gerektiren durumları, pediatrik hastalarda antibiyotik kullanımında dikkat edilmesi gereken temel ilkeleri ve antibiyotiklerin olası yan etkilerini özetlemektedir. Derlemenin amacı, çocuk hastalarda antibiyotikleri doğru endikasyonda, uygun dozda ve uygun tedavi süresiyle reçetelenmesine katkı sağlayarak akılcı antibiyotik kullanımını desteklemektir.

Abstract
Inappropriate and excessive use of antibiotics contributes to the development of antimicrobial resistance, one of the most serious threats to global public health. Antimicrobial resistance can reduce treatment success, necessitate higher antibiotic doses and longer treatment courses, and limit the effectiveness of antibiotics that were previously considered first-line therapies for common infections. In pediatric dentistry, prescribing antibiotics without an appropriate indication or using inappropriate doses and treatment durations may compromise treatment outcomes, prolong the course of treatment, and increase complications associated with unnecessary antibiotic use. This review summarizes the indications and contraindications for antibiotic therapy, conditions requiring antibiotic prophylaxis, key principles of antibiotic prescribing in pediatric patients, and the potential adverse effects of antibiotics in pediatric dental practice. The aim of this review is to promote rational antibiotic use by supporting appropriate antibiotic prescribing in children, including the selection of the correct indication, dose, and treatment duration.
