Publication Ethics

The European Journal of Science and Technology is founded on the principles of producing, developing, evaluating, and disseminating interdisciplinary work, particularly in the fields of engineering and basic sciences, through unbiased scientific methods.

It is aimed that all stakeholders—authors, editors, reviewers, publishers, and readers—contribute to the advancement of science by following a correct and ethical process. Ensuring compliance with scientific ethical principles is crucial in this context.

The journal’s publication ethics and open access policy are regulated in line with the guidelines and policies published by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Editors and/or reviewers have the right to request the output files related to the analysis results when deemed necessary. The misuse of data in violation of ethical rules is the sole responsibility of the authors. Any detected violations will be reported to the relevant institution of the author, and the article will be rejected.

Ethical Responsibilities of Authors

Authors must ensure the accuracy of the data related to their work, keep records of their research regularly, and make these records available upon request.

Authors must confirm that the submitted article has not been published elsewhere or accepted for publication.

In case of overlap between the submitted content and previously published or presented work, the conflict must be acknowledged, and proper citations must be made. Authors should also submit copies of works with similar content to the editor, if applicable, and obtain permission to reproduce or use any content from other sources, providing proper attribution.

All studies involving human or animal subjects must comply with national and international laws and guidelines (e.g., WMA Declaration of Helsinki, NIH Policy on the Use of Laboratory Animals, EU Directive on the Use of Animals), and necessary approvals must be obtained. Relevant ethics board approvals and research details must be stated in the "Materials and Methods" section of the study.

Authors must disclose any conflicts of interest and, if an ethical violation is detected, notify the editor and publisher, issue a correction, retraction, or clarification, and withdraw the study if necessary.

Individuals who did not contribute to the study should not be listed as authors, and any changes to the author list after article submission (e.g., removing or adding authors or changing the order of authors) should not be proposed.

Upon acceptance of the article, authors are responsible for notifying the journal's secretariat within five days of any corrections they deem necessary and informing the secretariat if any subsequent corrections need to be listed on the journal's "Corrections to Previous Issues" page.

For information related to ethics board permissions, authors should review and comply with the "Ethics Committee Approval" page.

Ethical Duties and Responsibilities of Editors

Editors must act fairly, objectively, and impartially, without discrimination based on gender, religion, political beliefs, ethnic origin, or geographical background.

Editors should evaluate submissions solely based on their content and should not grant privileges to any author.

Editors must take necessary precautions to prevent conflicts of interest and assess any disclosed conflicts.

Sponsored or special issues must be handled in the same manner as regular issues.

In the event of an ethical violation complaint, editors must follow the journal's policies and procedures, providing the authors with the opportunity to respond while not avoiding applying the necessary sanctions, regardless of the author involved.

Editors must ensure that manuscripts are sent to field editors and reviewers based on their expertise and support impartial and independent evaluations.

Editors must ensure that there is no conflict of interest between editors, reviewers, and authors in the evaluation process.

Editors should work to maintain a diverse and updated pool of reviewers.

Editors must prevent and address unprofessional or unscientific evaluations.

Ethical Responsibilities of Reviewers

Reviewers must objectively and timely evaluate manuscripts to aid the editor’s decision-making process and accept only those works within their area of expertise.

Reviewers must provide unbiased evaluations focused solely on the manuscript's content, without consideration of religious, political, or economic interests.

Reviewers should contribute to enhancing the quality of the manuscript by offering constructive suggestions and rigorously reviewing the work, communicating feedback in a constructive and respectful manner to the author.

Reviewers must maintain confidentiality regarding the information provided by the editor and author, and destroy the reviewed manuscript after the evaluation process, reporting any potential breach of blind review to the editor.

Reviewers must disclose any potential conflicts of interest (financial, institutional, collaborative, or other relationships with the author) to the editor and, if necessary, withdraw from the review process.

Reviewers must complete their evaluations within the agreed timeframe.

Plagiarism Policy

Plagiarism, whether intentional or not, is a breach of ethics. Articles that resemble other sources without proper citation, and are accepted for publication in this form, are both unethical and illegal, and thus unacceptable.

The Journal Management adheres to COPE standards when addressing allegations or suspicions of plagiarism, citation manipulation, or data fabrication related to submitted works.

Reporting Non-Compliance with Ethical Principles to the Editor

If unethical behavior or content is encountered regarding editors, reviewers, or authors, or during the review process, early view, or published articles in the European Journal of Science and Technology, this should be reported to ejosat@outlook.com.
